Woolgoolga Lake

An easy loop around the lake, wading across the creek at low tide on the beach. Lookout for the noisy bats!

Trail information

Woolgoolga Lake

This walk is a good choice for families, dog walkers, or if you just want to get some exercise. The distance is not far, the track is easy, and there are a number of parking options. We like to start with the tracks through the forest along Woolgoolga Creek – look out for the noisy bats that live here!

Then we cross the estuary on the beach to wander around the north side of the lake. Woolgoolga Lake may be open or closed, the outflow may be shallow or deeper, depending on how much sand has built up and recent rain and swell conditions. Be prepared to take your shoes off!

After walking through the sports ground, you can either return on the lakeshore or on the suburban streets, before crossing the wooden bridge over Woolgoolga Creek to return to your car.

The water quality of Woolgoolga Lake can be affected by agricultural runoff from local farms.
