Trail information

Valla to Nambucca Heads

After we completed the Solitary Islands Coastal Walk, we stood on the headland at Sawtell and wondered if we could continue walking to Nambucca Heads. So on we went: Sawtell to Tuckers Rocks, Tuckers Rocks to Mylestom, Urunga to Hungry Head, Hungry Head to Valla and then finally Valla to Nambucca Heads marking some 200km since our first walk along this coastline Yamba to Angourie then Yuraygir Walk and the Solitary Islands Coastal Walk. Port Macquarie calling?

We began by crossing Deep Creek on the long wooden bridge, then over the dunes onto the beach. The tide was low, the morning sun glistened on the gentle breaking waves and the dog was joyful as this is a dog off-leash area.

As we approached Swimming Creek, the leash went back on and we turned inland to climb the headlands for the view. Dogs are not permitted any further as these are popular swimming beaches.

Follow Bill Babb’s path walkway up to Lions Lookout, and on to Captain Cook Lookout and Rotary Lookout. A path leads down to the Nambucca River foreshore.

You can choose to walk back to your car from here, or continue (as we did) along the river path to a coffee shop where we plotted our next coastal adventure south.
