A fun walk up the creek to the very lovely 10m high Scouts Falls with a natural waterhole for a wild swim.
Take care, as the path up Middle Creek can be hard to follow and is tricky in places – slippery rocks, creek crossings, overgrown in places, and some rock scrambling. A bit of an adventure!
The access road is dirt, there is limited parking on Sherwood Creek Road at Scouts Falls, and there are no facilities so please take your rubbish out with you. It is always best not to wear sunscreen or use insect repellents when wild swimming, as creatures make their home in this creek.
While you are in the area, if you park at nearby Ewens Gap on Sherwood Creek Rd, follow the walking trail a short distance north of the road to a rock-climbing area with good views over the valley to the sea. The sandstone cliffs in this area are popular with rock climbers.
Woolgoolga Creek Falls, also in Sherwood Nature Reserve, is another short family-friendly walk to a waterfall. No swimming hole, but it does have a nice picnic area.
