Mt Coramba via Morbid Trail

Morbid Trail is a brutal route on steep, rutted, clay four wheel drive tracks up Mt Coramba.

Trail information

Mt Coramba via Morbid Trail

Morbid trail is open and sunny, and climbs relentlessly beneath the wires to the tower on the top of Mt Coramba. Its a great workout, ideal for those with robust knees and a dark sense of humour. For the rest of us, the reward for suffering is the view on a clear day from the summit of Mt Coramba.

Pack your poles for the descent. The best part was the short flat recovery section at the end with the car in sight – thank goodness that’s over!

Morbid trail starts from the end of Poperaperan Creek Road – we parked shortly after the bitumen ends, before the creek crossing.

Of course, if you have a high clearance 4WD vehicle and skills to match, you can cruise up Morbid Trail, and then drive back down one of the other trails on Mt Coramba. Not recommended in wet conditions as it is steep clay.
