Lower Bucca

Can you find the tiny cemetery in a native forest clearing?

Trail information

Lower Bucca

There is a maze of forest trails and bike tracks to explore in Lower Bucca State Forest, easily accessed if you park where Store Rd meets Bucca Rd. We went exploring late one afternoon, but were forced by the setting sun to keep our loop relatively short. The area is popular with bike riders and trail runners.

Late in the 19th century, Lower Bucca Village sprung up nearby as a result of a short-lived gold mine “Mountain Maid”. Lookout for the turnoff to Bucca Cemetry with graves that date from 1910 right up to October 2020.
