Anvil Rock

A delightful undulating walk through woodland, past balancing rocks and a swamp

Trail information

Anvil Rock

While camping at Mulligans we enjoyed this lovely undulating walk, amongst impressive granite boulders with the bush sparkling in the late afternoon light. In spring, look out for the bright red Dorrigo Waratah, and in summer find Christmas Bells in the swamp. There is birdlife all year round!

Hidden amongst the trees is a stack of balancing rocks, a metal walkway crosses a wet section. Beyond the swamp, the path turns around Anvil Rock and climbs up through a crack (look for the metal markers) for pleasant views of Old Mans Hat, Dandahra Creek valley and the surrounding countryside. You cannot climb Anvil Rock itself.

A perfect walk to end our day, before settling into a camp chair beside the fire watching lemon breasted robins flitting about catching moths in the twilight. Bliss.
